Just 4 inches high, Piro is a thoroughly engaging little wooden clown called a “handling toy” by his German maker. Made of glassy smooth maple beads and blue lacquered maple discs, Piro’s flexible body clicks as he bends and bows. With a pointy yellow cap atop his head, a round red nose, and a cheery lopsided smile, this superbly crafted fellow can also stand alone on his bright red base, tilting amusingly at any almost any angle. Made from high-quality hardwood and nontoxic coloring, Piro is just the right size for small fists to grasp and safe for teething babies. But don’t let kids have all the fun–he’d also make an amusing desk toy for the executive who has everything. Meets all European safety requirements for baby toys. –Marianne Painter
Customer Review: Another Haba winner
Piro is great. A very sturdy toy, and a very cute clown. I’m reassured that it passed German quality control as being nontoxic, because my daughter has diligently chewed on it, and undoubtedly consumed some of the paint.
Have you noticed the recent press about lead in the vinyl that the US testing agents feel is “safe” for our kids? Really? Lead is safe? Oh well, that is why I avoid Chinese and American toys now. European standards are much more strict.
Anyway, a great, bendy little clown. Thumbs up from this dad. Buy now…
