Customer Review: These are just the coolest
So I was more entertained than my children, so what?

These are great toys. I only catch them when they are on sale though, not sure if they are worth full price. We haven’t had any problems with them, and they are rather clever little inventions.
Customer Review: Cube world
My children love this toy. They have a rather large collection. They enjoy moving them around to see different animation occur. You can play mini games to gain extra animation if you score high enough which is easy to do. Provides good entertainment for kids of all ages. Sometimes the characters fight, party or excercise in their own cube or go visit a friend in another cube. Buy now…

Melissa and Doug 24 pc Basic Cardboard Blocks (Educational Games For 5 9)

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

The Big Bad Wolf has nothing on these sturdy cardboard blocks. They’re easy to assemble, and they’re lightweight so even the youngest builders can construct their dream home. Bright colors mean endless combinations. Each block measures 19″L x 12.5″W x 5.75″H. Includes 24 blocks.
Customer Review: excelent for the price!!
i bought this toy for my 18 month old son, i was looking for something inexpensive yet educational and fun to do. i was not disappointed, the blocks are the perfect size and weight for my son, he loves to stack them and tumble them over. they are very lightweight ( a plus since children tend to hit each other with blocks!!) yet very sturdy, i actually tested one out by standing on it and it held very well! the only thing that i could think of that could be a negative is that it takes some time to fold them together ( it took me 30-40 min) but it is definetly worth it, i would recommend it to all parents with toddlers.
Customer Review: Sturdy and colorful
Ordered for my son to work on motor coordination, we are really happy with the product. They fold down to flat boxes and though somewhat tedious to put together, they wind up extremely sturdy and toddler-damage resistant! Colorful and all-around in keeping with the brand’s great products. ****Note that most of the boxes are the tiny size, some are medium, but only 4 are large shoe-box size. If ability to build a big structure is what you are after, you definitely need their bigger set.

Customer Review: Amazing blocks
These blocks were recommended by a friend and said they were perfect for all ages. As simple as these blocks are, they are amazing. The types of structures you can build are incredible. Because the blocks are so thin, you can make bridges and towers that seem to defy gravity. Fun for kids and adults alike.

Customer Review: Melissa and Doug make GREAT Blocks
My wife and I bought this set of blocks and another M&D set for our granddaughter and she LOVES them. She is just 2 and is enjoying making very large towers - or letting her Mom or Dad make them - and then knocking them over. The blocks take all this punishment very well and come back for more. They are smooth hard wood easy to pickup (and knock over). The finish is great. They don’t even seem scratched after Elena is finished her demolition derby.

Mom and Dad love them too. They like the fact that Elena can make things with different shapes and that they are very safe for her to play with. The storage box helps them teach Elana how to put the blocks away neatly when she is finished playing.

All in all, this was a GREAT purchase!

An appealing combination of magnets and wood, this pattern block set will keep kids engaged and entertained. Includes 120 colorful geometric magnets to replicate the 12 included geometric pictures. Measurements 14.5″ x 12″ x 1.5″.
Customer Review: My 2 year-old granddaughter loves this
When I ordered this puzzle there was a caveat that children under 3 would be confused. Well, my granddaughter loves this. Yes, you must sit down with your child and help her learn how to do use the puzzle pattern blocks. My granddaughter picked it up quickly and knows the names of most of the puzzles. She has begun testing new forms that are not laid out for her. There are a lot of pieces, so a child this young will need some help picking them up; hey, isn;t this what all grandmas do? Great for teaching geometric form names.
Customer Review: nice break from overstimulating toys
My son is almost 4. He got this for Christmas along with LOTS of other gifts. It is a nice winding down toy for him when his younger siblings are napping and mom is working. He enjoys this toy. Buy now…

Customer Review: Great blocks
I bought these for my daughter’s first birthday. She isn’t quite old enough to build with them by herself yet but, with an older sister I was just trying to find something that we didn’t already have. I love these blocks. They aren’t too big for little ones to play with. She loves to knock things over when we build them for her and she enjoys trying to stack them up herself. I like that some are colored and there are fun shapes too. This will definitely be one of those toys that we hang on to for a long time.
Customer Review: Blocks are BEST!!
Grandchildren are just starting to come along for us….we have 1 infant granddaughter and next month we will be step-grandparents to a beautiful 3yo girl.
Time to get toys in our house again!

I DO NOT like toys that does the playing for the children. It is my experience and opinion that the more things a toy does (moves, talks, sings, skates, etc) the less it will be played with. Also, these toys, IN MY OPINION, do not encourage imagination and creativity as much as toys that do nothing (blocks, lincoln logs, legos, balls, etc).

These blocks are a WONDERFUL value. I have seen blocks run upwards of $100!! These are well made and it some really wonderful shapes and colors. The bag that they come in is a real bonus. It’s sturdy and zips closed and makes them easier to store than if they were in a tub.
One word of caution: the blocks are smaller than most wooden blocks that I’ve had before, so I wouldn’t buy them for the under 3 crowd. Some of these would easily fit in a little ones’ mouth.

For the 3 and over kids, however, they are GREAT!!!! Buy now…

Customer Review: My kids’ favorite bath toy

Discovery Blocks (Petite Educational Toys)

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

These thoughtfully designed blocks offer curious children a variety of sensory activities. One block rattles, another has a child-friendly mirror, the next offers a kaleidoscope, another squeaks (but only when the red button is pushed,) and the last block has a bell that chimes gently with babies touch. Blocks are made of hard wood and finished with completely non-toxic, child-friendly paints and finishes. Ages 1 and up.
Customer Review: Love these blocks
These blocks are great! They are bright, small enough for little hands to hold and my daughter loves them. Each block has a different center and they make play fun!
Customer Review: So simple, but so interesting
Every different block does a different apparatus; one, has a tinker bell, one a wooden dowel insert that makes a tapping sound, one a round wooden tapper, one a yellow filter, one a mirror and one a kaleidoscope. I believe they are designed to teach the connection between motion and related sound, as well as visual effects of manipulating light.
Having said that, our 7 month old just likes to knock down a stack of them and shake the one’s that make noise. Then, of course, the blocks also go into the mouth. No worries. The color is harmless water based paint.
These are built to last for years, maybe generations! Buy now…

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

This sturdy, classically styled block cart features 30 brightly painted, solid wood blocks with a colorful collection of pictures, letters and numbers. These chunky blocks are perfect for little fingers to grasp and move around the Block Cart.
Customer Review: Enduring Wooden Blocks
I had similar blocks when I was a child and purchased these for my first great-grandson this past Christmas (2007). He immediately went for the string to pull around his blocks and really loves playing and building things with these blocks. He also enjoys putting them away in their own little wagon. These alphabet/number blocks have been around for over 100 years and continue to be loved and enjoyed generation after generation. They encourage the child’s creativity and learning. Who could ask for more?
Customer Review: Wooden Toys
I like wooden toys for kids. This they can stack, learn colors, balance, letters, start learning short words, fitting them back in the wagon, and the fun of putting other things in the wagon to tote them around. Cats fit will too. Blocks are always a great sorce of imagination play. Buy now…

Melissa and Doug Pattern Blocks and Boards (Kids Computer Pc Software Educational Games)

Friday, December 19th, 2008

This attribute set develops shape recognition and spatial relations. Includes 10 designs on wooden cards with over 100 pattern blocks in 6 different shapes and colors which replicate the patterns. Stores neatly in a durable wooden case that measures 13 x 9 x 2 inches.
Customer Review: Good idea, poorly executed
I bought this puzzle set for my four year old grandson because the concept is excellent: replicating color and shapes; building designs. If the puzzle worked, it would be a particularly good pre-reading skill. The problem, as mentioned in an earlier review, is that the pieces slide very easily on the shiny design board. Unless the child places pieces in the middle of the design, and then builds out, the pieces move all over the board. For that reason, I recommend that you buy the magnetic version.
Customer Review: Unguided, creative play
My four-year-old son did each of the printed boards once and since then we haven’t bothered much with them. It’s more fun to play with the tiles by themselves.

And believe it or not, it *is* fun, for all of us. The four-year-old boy makes pictures. The mommy makes groovy geometric patterns. The math nerd dad (that’s me) makes dodecagons. I’m especially happy that there are enough pieces for the whole family to play at once.

Pure unguided, creative play. That’s where the magic happens, folks.

The pieces do tend to scatter. We don’t care.
